  • Pages visited, time on site, and referring URLs
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your quote requests, questions, and inquiries
  • Provide our cabling and network services to you
  • Schedule on-site estimates and project work
  • Send transactional communications related to your project (confirmations, invoices, updates)
  • Improve our website and services based on usage patterns
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may provide you with additional rights. We process your personal information under the following bases:

  • Contract performance: To fulfill service agreements or respond to your service inquiries
  • Legitimate interests: To operate our business and improve our services
  • Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Consent: Where you have provided explicit consent

4. Third-Party Service Providers

Our website is delivered and measured using two key third-party services. By using our site you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these providers as described below.

4.1 Cloudflare (Hosting & Content Delivery)

Our website is served through Cloudflare, Inc., which acts as our DNS provider, content delivery network (CDN), and security layer. When you visit steelecabling.com, your request passes through Cloudflare's network before reaching our server. As a result, Cloudflare may collect:

  • Your IP address and general geographic location
  • Browser and device information (user-agent string)
  • Pages requested and timestamps
  • Network performance and security data

Cloudflare uses this data to provide DDoS protection, performance optimization, and security services. Cloudflare may also set cookies on your device (such as __cflb, __cfduid, and cf_clearance) necessary for their services to function. Cloudflare processes data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy and acts as an independent data controller for certain processing activities. Cloudflare is certified under applicable data transfer frameworks and maintains data centers globally, including in the United States.

4.2 Google Analytics (Website Analytics)

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC ("Google"), to understand how visitors interact with our website. Google Analytics collects information including:

  • Pages visited, session duration, and navigation paths
  • Referral source (how you arrived at our site)
  • General geographic location (country/city level, derived from IP)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Interactions with page elements (clicks, scroll depth)

Google Analytics uses cookies (including _ga, _gid, and _gat) to collect this information. IP addresses are anonymized before storage where possible. The data is transmitted to and stored on Google servers, which may be located outside California or the United States. Google may use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. You may also use Google's ad settings to control personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Beyond the third-party services described in Section 4, we may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Other vendors who help us operate our business (e.g., email providers, invoicing software), subject to confidentiality obligations
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets
  • Protection of rights: To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of others

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies set by us and our third-party providers (Cloudflare and Google Analytics). These fall into two categories:

  • Essential / security cookies: Set by Cloudflare and required for site delivery and protection. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. Examples: __cflb, cf_clearance.
  • Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to measure site usage. These are non-essential and can be opted out of. Examples: _ga, _gid, _gat.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may impair site functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking beyond what Google Analytics and Cloudflare set as described above. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, provide our services, and comply with legal obligations. Contact form inquiries are typically retained for up to three (3) years. Customer project records may be retained for up to seven (7) years for legal and business purposes.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

9. Your California Privacy Rights

Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to:

  • Know: Request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions
  • Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information

Both companies maintain appropriate data transfer mechanisms and security standards. By using our website, you consent to this processing as described in their respective privacy policies.
